Anna Benincasa

Anna is a clinical psychologist and the principal psychologist at Northern Clinical Psychology.

Anna works with adults who may be experiencing:

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Burnout and perfectionism

  • Adjusting to life changes, including a relationship break-up

  • Complex relational trauma, or trauma that has occurred within the context of a relationship, such as child sexual abuse, neglect, or family violence

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Dissociation 

Using a collaborative and empathic therapeutic approach, Anna supports clients to make meaning of the feelings and thoughts that contribute to psychological and emotional distress. In this way, Anna works with clients to find new, more adaptive ways of being. Anna draws from a variety of evidence-based therapies and has training in emotion-focussed therapy, schema therapy, Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitisation (EMDR), and trauma-informed therapies that have a neurobiological underpinning. Anna has completed extensive training in the treatment of trauma and is currently completing training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Association of Psychologists, Inc.

Anna has a relaxed interpersonal style and brings warmth and authenticity to each session.

Rebekah Izzard

Rebekah works solely via Telehealth and has availability for new therapy and assessment clients.

Rebekah is a psychologist who works with adults experiencing:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Adjustment to parenthood

  • Grief and loss

  • The impacts of trauma

  • Perinatal issues 

Rebekah (Bek) supports individuals to go beyond just coping and survival. Using an integration of evidence-based, trauma-informed, diversity-affirming therapies that have a humanist framework, Bek works with individuals to move deeper into the vulnerabilities, fears, and pain that sit under the surface of symptoms. This is where long-term, meaningful change occurs.

Bek’s special areas of interests include supporting clients in the perinatal phase of life, including pregnancy, fertility struggles, pregnancy loss/termination, birth trauma, postnatal mental health and adjustment, parenting, as well as grief and loss, and those who are neurodivergent (ADHD and Autistic). 

Bek welcomes the opportunity to work with anyone; individuals who are diverse in gender and sexual identity, religious/cultural background, those who are neurodiverse, live in remote/rural contexts and more.

Martha Mulley

 

Martha has availability for new clients commencing 18 November 2024.

Martha is a psychologist who works with adults experiencing:

  • Low self-esteem

  • Relationship difficulties and breakdown

  • Trauma

  • Martha also has extensive experience working with autistic and ADHD clients

Martha’s therapeutic approach emphasises empathy and acceptance to create a safe environment for clients to make sense of their experiences, thoughts and feelings. By guiding clients to attune to their inner world, Martha supports individuals to deepen their understanding of themselves and heal from past events, helping them to live a life rich in meaning. 

Drawing from evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches such as Polyvagal Theory, Martha empowers clients to explore their emotional and physical states, deepening their understanding of their own nervous system and sense of safety. As a certified yoga teacher, Martha assists clients to deepen the mind-body connection, understanding the role of the nervous system in trauma recovery.

Martha has several years experience in working with neurodiverse populations using neuro-affirming practices, and is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all clients feel valued and understood. Martha also draws from therapeutic approaches including, mindfulness-based practices, CBT, DBT, and ACT.

 Martha brings a warm, grounded presence to each therapy session.

Katy Brown

Katy is a clinical psychologist who works with adults experiencing:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Stress and burnout

  • Perfectionism 

  • Relationship distress 

  • Grief and loss

  • The impacts of developmental trauma 

Working non-diagnostically, Katy supports clients to understand the function of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours using evidence-based therapies that emphasise characterological change, rather than merely a reduction in symptoms. Katy’s therapeutic approaches include Internal Family Systems-informed therapy (IFS), Schema Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and aspects of somatic-based approaches. Katy has a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and is currently undertaking training in IFS. Philosophically, Katy works from a humanistic perspective, where empathy and unconditional positive regard are in the foreground of her work.

As safety is a core component of the therapeutic alliance, Katy consistently invites clients into discussion about how they are feeling about and progressing in therapy to ensure individual client goals and needs are being met.
